Together we want to give a green impetus and do something for our cradle-to-cradle cycle! Ecological compatibility, sustainability and a zero-waste policy are the foundation of our collaboration with all our partners.

Good for the environment, good for us and good for your company: Let's take the step towards sustainability together - with the goal of leaving a clean environment for all.

Why sustainability?

Actual situation recycling | Plastic worldwide

SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY

Goals:

  • Change in packaging specification/ production in line with individual sustainability strategy
  • Ecological design = reduction of colours, channels and areas & use of C2C colour system
  • Strengthening of the brand image through maximum PR communication
  • Increase of the recycling rate through optimization of the packaging material (Smart Packaging) and impact-strong design in color and form at brand level
  • Reduction of the current packaging costs by e.g. minimizing material and much more
  • Reinvesting cost savings in Smart Packaging

COOPERATION

Aim:

A consistent change of packaging and design according to the sustainability criteria, which must be individually prioritized for each customer. The packaging material as well as the packaging design influence each other. For the optimal implementation of sustainable product packaging in materials and design, after a common prioritization of the sustainability criteria with the customer, an individual, sustainable corporate strategy must be developed in a joint workshop with our partner TILISCO.

FRÖTE

our barometer for environmentally friendly design

This is Fröte, our mascot for sustainability. Fröte is a mixture between frog and toad and our

barometer for a clean design. Because we don't want to swallow the toad at the fact of how we deal with our nature.

Frogs are very weather-sensitive and have always been seen as a barometer of cleanliness (bad and good handling of nature). They react quickly to environmental changes and show a high degree of flexibility. Toads are considered less clean than frogs, but they are more conspicuous and unusual.

So both are perfect for organic packaging.

Our Fröte continually evaluates our packaging in terms of its impact on the recycling system and thus on our environment.

It asks itself questions like:
What materials are used? How many colours are used for printing? Can the materials be separated and recycled?
The frod forgives hearts on a scale from dissatisfied (1 heart) to enthusiastic (5 hearts).

SUSTAINABILITY AS DESIGN GOAL NO.1 FOR FOOD

Sustainability in the sense of design:

Prioritize design goals (basis for design development) in such a way that "sustainability" has the highest relevance

 1. Engel

  • Very little print job
  • Hardly coloured surfaces - design elements on which the focus is not placed are provided with contours
  • Impact through strong form (in the logo), which is taken up in the design and repeats itself
  • Use of C2C® ink system

 2. Tafelspitz

  • Use 1 black channel (in different opacities) + 1 pantone color
  • Full-surface print job for a premium look

 3. Voelkel

SUSTAINABILITY AS DESIGN GOAL NO.1 - COSMETICS

Sustainability in the sense of design:

  • Defining the term sustainability together with the customer

  • Reduction of color number: 2 colors
  • Reduction of ink coverage: opacity & printable area minimized
  • Use of strong graphic forms for strong impact through color application in two color blocks

Example:

Sante:

  • Production with Cradle to Cradle® color system
  • Integration of secondary benefits, e.g. Charity (back or packaging)
  • Use Seal (C2C®, Made for Recycling etc.)
  • Education Product recycling on the inside / outside
